St Simons Offshore Fishing (A Great Experience)

Two of the bigger fishTwo weeks ago my wife and I had her father and brother join us for a terrific day of offshore fishing. A windy morning had the seas a little choppier than I had wished. However,  we were four people that really wanted to catch some fish and none of us had plans of returning home just to go eat breakfast at the Waffle House. So, having said that, we plugged forward hoping the 3 foot seas would calm once the wind would just turn a little more from the west. The wind did just that but not before we caught an occasional wave over our starboard side. After an hour or so we finally arrived at our destination; A well known submerged wreck about ten miles to the east of St. Simons Island. We found bottom, dropped an anchor and my father in law had a test cast out into the water just to “gauge interest” to determine if we needed repositioning.   Literally 15 seconds later he had a good sized sheepshead in the boat.  Well, this went on fairly steadily for the next few hours. The seas completely calmed down and it turned out to be a beautiful day.

When Melissa and I moved to St. Simons Island this is what we envisioned when dreaming of how we’d spend our spring weekend days and we are not alone. This is why so many people want to own real estate on St Simons and surrounding areas. Maybe fishing or boating isn’t your thing but it might be kayaking or bird watching etc. There are endless activities in this area that allow you to have fun enjoying your hobby all the while being able to experience the endless natural beauty of Coastal Georgia. For this reason alone, real estate in this area will improve. Things may be down from its high point but we all know why we call this area home and it won’t be long before people begin buying real estate here again.  So, like a boatful of hungry fisherman, don’t be persuaded by stormy weather or dark skies. Things will improve and the real estate industry will weather the storm.  If anyone has any questions about real estate or living in Coastal Georgia please contact John at 912-634-0595.
